A little preview
Alex tiptoed into the sun-warmed garden where rows of vegetables bowed like sleepy giants. But the real giants were tiny: tall sunflower heads that towered above the Meadow Mice and a family of beetles. Poppy the ladybug fluttered down to say hello and Mite the little gray mouse scurried from a hole, nose twitching. 'Our pantry sits on top of those high heads,' Mite squeaked. 'We can't reach the seeds to feed our babies.' Alex knelt and saw the mice looking small as marbles beneath the tall, swaying flowers.
